Fireside Fiction: Earn Up to $500
for Short Stories
Fireside Fiction is seeking short stories of any genre. As long as your story has a strong plot arc that features a distinct beginning, middle and end, go ahead and submit it.
Fireside Fiction is a weekly web publication dedicated to showcasing great short stories and flash fiction. They are also determined to ensure that writers receive fair pay for their creative talents.
The editors are interested in stories that reflect the array of human experience with depth, dignity and respect. There is a slight tilt towards speculative fiction within Fireside Fiction. However, they really do consider stories from any genre at all.
The best way to gauge what the editors love to read is to read some of the stories they’ve already published. The editors love great storytelling and their goal is to publish great stories – regarding of genre.
Fireside is ONLY open to submissions during specified reading periods. Always be sure to check the website for current open times before submitting.
Response times are generally within a month following the end of the reading period.
Word count: Preferred word counts are as follows:
Flash fiction: up to 1,000 words
Short stories: between 1,000 and 4,000 words
Payment: Fireside Fiction pays US 12.5 cents per word – well above the standard minimum professional rate. For a 4,000 word short story, you could earn up to $500.
